  1. KA – New listen, this is a bad jam. I likeit

IG – Heard this song before, falls into the Dixie Chicks but not as country. too Poppy for me.

  2. “Stars”/Kevin Ayers. On the whole, rather late Beatle-y, from the George-ish melody and lyrics to the background vocals and booming bass. Sounds like what it’s about. also a very tidy 3:30. Never heard of this guy, but I like it.

“Galileo”/ Indigos. I know this song (an AAA favorite from way back) but have to admit I never listened to it closely before. Always a fun lyrical technique to see one’s (or earth’s) problems through the lens of an historical personage or event, in this case the “king of night vision, king of insight.” Rest his soul! I do always enjoy their harmonies as well.

  3. Kevin Ayers – Stars
Been a fan of KA’s music for a while, but I don’t think until streaming became prevalent. Is this his most well-known track? Anywho… It’s really groovy. A great wall of sound built with th backing vox, organ and swirling guitars. “Feeling like a million sparkling stars” (Get a little taste of Lovin’ Spoonful’s “Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind”)

    Indigo Girls –
Always loved Closer to Fine (an interesting, but appropriate choice for the Barbie movie), but have only dipped into their collection other than the album which contained that song – looks like it was their second. This is a lovely track. Everything hits the mark – simple percussion, violin, beautiful harmonies. “How long ’til my soul gets it right?”

  4. Stars- I see that his album is titled Oddities and I found this to be a quirky little track. I liked the atmospheric guitar in the beginning putting one in the mind of the ethereal. As the song progressed though it almost sounded as if the track was slowed down. The mix of the instruments was a bit muddy to my ear as if the voices and organs were competing for space in the auditory spectrum. There were times and snippets of the song that reminded me of a needle drop somewhere deep in The Who’s Tommy double album. Not 12 write home about for me.

  5. “Galileo” by Indigo Girls: I have often pondered similar thoughts. I am a sucker for this self reflective psychologizing (is that a word). Excellent tunage sandwich with just the right amount of mayonnaise.
