“Chance For a Lifetime” by Kayak
Submitted by Ed
I go way back with this band, and specifically this album, my favorite from their catalog – the chuckle-inducing Royal Bed Bouncer. I remember having a pre-recorded cassette of it in a solid blue case – awful sound!
A sense of playfulness and skilled musicality pervades the entire effort. This song is a standout, but if you’re in the mode for a prog jog from the Netherlands you can’t go wrong here.

“Flying Saucers Rock ‘n’ Roll” by Billy Lee Riley
Submitted by Bill
The post-WWII heyday of the UFO fad was roughly contemporaneous with the rise of rockabilly. Coincidence? So many alien-invasion movies in those days as well, though this is the only cultural artifact from then I know of that imagined the visitors having their own rock band … and a pretty good one at that. Billy Lee was among the singers to follow in the footsteps of Elvis at Sun Records; Jerry Lee Lewis plays on this track.

“Neptune City” by Nicole Atkins
Submitted by Ian
She opened up for Nick Cave and I fell in love. One of the greatest voices out there. This song is actually about Neptune City New Jersey, but hell, just sit back and enjoy

“Man on the Moon” by Sugar
Submitted by Dave
I was introduced to Sugar through MyFive I believe. This song just hit the spot during my search for spacey goodness. I like the weird rhythmic pauses and cool sounding riff material that straddles the distorted guitars

“Here Comes the Moon” by George Harrison
Submitted by Alan
I love that George played around with the title of his (arguably) most iconic songs (Here comes the sun) and produced another beauty. This one is from his self-titled 1979 album. The lyrics are less brazen than in HCTS and speak more to the mysterious and playful qualities of the stellar orb.
