“Afternoons And Coffeespoons” by Crash Test Dummies
Submitted by Dave

I realize his vocals are an acquired taste but I have always loved this track. So glad it popped up on my scans for material for this round. I will try to speak and sing in his cadence for the remainder of the day as my beautiful wife Laura will love me for it (if you hear of a mysterious death in St Mary’s County please call 911). Side Note: Can confirm the pajamas in the day-time and disappearing hairline forecast.

“Tempis Fugit” by Yes
Submitted by Alan

This one is great all around. One of the sweetest, cleanest, most satisfying guitar riffs that I know. Otherwise, it has all of the trappings of the best Yes songs- tight, creative and rhythmic playing by White and Squire, a (not too) high-pitched Jon Anderson and fabulous keys by Geoff Downes. “Time flies.”

“Reading Time with Pickle” by Regina Spektor
Submitted by Ian

My wife introduces me to Regina, I feel she is really talented. Unfortunately for me he latest releases are to over produced and polished. I prefer her older material. This I believe is from her first album. I like the rawness and of course the crazy lyrics.

“Who Knows Where the Time Goes” by Fairport Convention
Submitted by Bill

One of the first songs I thought of for this round, though I admit I recalled it mostly for Sandy Denny’s gorgeous voice and the wistfully beautiful chorus. The full lyrics make it that much more affecting: “Your fickle friends are leaving. … I have no fear of time.” A near-adolescent Richard Thompson’s ruminatively lyrical lead guitar playing isn’t bad either.

“Days Are O.K. (But the Nights Were Made for Love)” by Motels
Submitted by Ed

From the album before they got popular – this track has been a favorite of mine since its release. Possibly the impetus for this round’s theme. Martha Davis – oh, that voice.
