“I Ain’t Gonna Piss in No Jar” by Mojo Nixon & Skid Roper
Submitted by Bill
From the era of “Just say no,” a characteristically rude broadside by the late Nixon. Piss-testing is so common now it’s hard to recall there was a time when it was new. As often, Mojo’s outro aside are worth the price of admission: “Patrick Henry didn’t say Give me liberty or give me a urine sample, did he?” File under: the right to bodily autonomy.

“Don’t Give Up” by Noisettes
Submitted by Ed
Knew the band a bit, but found this track while searching for protest songs and it made the cut.

“Follow the Fool” by Primus
Submitted by Ian
I lost my love of Primus after Anti-Pop came out, it just didn’t do it for me. In looking for songs for this round I came across a new album from 2022, This song was part of it and it has that old school Primus flair to it.

“Revolutionary Etude” by Frédéric Chopin
Submitted by Dave
This song is believed to reflect Frédéric Chopin’s emotional response to a failed Polish rebellion against Russian rule. This piece moves me and a deep level for some reason.

“Chimes of Freedom” by Bruce Springsteen
Submitted by Alan
This is one of those Dylan songs that is done better by others, in this case Springsteen. The original goes back to 1964 and the narrative is poetic and sufficiently abstract to make it universal. This explains why it is often played during times of challenge at events which stoke the call for supporting human rights.
