  1. “Follow the Fool”/Primus. A great example of how to be wildly creative musically in a rock context but also deliver a pointed message with humor. There’s a blues riff transmuted here into something like art funk or wacky jazz. The rubbery bass (I guess?) sounds like a jaw harp (a bit like in the Who’s “Join Together”). And who is this fool everybody’s following? Please supply your own, as sadly there are many these days to choose from. A fine track.

“Revolutionary Etude”/Chopin. Chopin is someone I’ve been meaning to explore, so this is a good nudge. I don’t know what this particular revolution is about, but this is a splendid piece played by an obvious virtuoso. And throwing a little classical into M5 really, well, classes the joint up.

  2. Primus – Follow the Fool
A dab of Primus is always appreciated. Rubbery and inventive bass playing and humorous, yet pointed lyrics make for quite a ride. “Turning bullshit into butter…”

    Frederic Chopin – Revolutionary Etude
Sweeping flourishes and yet nuanced – stirring. I need more classical music in my life.

  3. Primus – one of my favs but lost touch after Ant-Pop. Have tried keeping up with Les Claypool and all his adventures. So many to choose from. Had no idea Primus put out another album.

You can never go wrong with an Etude. I tried to play piano but my left hand would never cooperate.
