M83 – Wait
Dreampop – makes me think of Bon Iver (who apparently opened at one of the Harris/Walz rallies), but also Peter Gabriel. Goes ethereally well with my morning coffee.
Gunbunnies – 3 Days Behind
Fits right in there with The Rave-Ups. Damn, it’s catchy. Nothing fancy here, just a well written, well produced gem.
“Wait”/M83. I feel like there’s a lot of music produced in the past several years along these lines. The “dreampop” term Ed employed certainly describes well this generally half-acoustic, half-keyboard, light-percussion approach, featuring somewhat echoey and generally yearning (yes) vox. I like this fine, as well as some of the other stuff I’ve heard along the same lines, but at this point it still all heavily blends together for me.
“Three Days Behind”/Gunbunnies. How’d dem bunnies get armed? One of those songs that skillfully and winsomely recombines familiar guitar-pop elements — chugging muted guitars, the harmony BG vox — in appealing ways that still suggest some sense of individual expression. Couple interesting touches in the arrangement in the beginning. Nice.
“3 Days Behind” by Gunbunnies: Excellent indie rock tune. Right up my alley. Need to find out more about the band at opportunity….never heard of them. Dig the lyrics too. Bravo
M-83, this is completely new to me. Its as if Vangelis and Pink Floyd had a baby. I like it. perfect for the crazy Friday morning
GB, another new to me group. Sounds like early 90’s with a little 80’s movie soundtrack added in.
